I find the portal extremely useful. It enables me to view my health records and reports, order repeat prescriptions, etc. I have also used it to communicate with my GP on occasions, which has been most helpful.
There was an occasion when I urgently needed to see my GP. When I explained my situation to the reception staff member, she managed to get me an appointment on the same day. If that had not happened, I may have gone to the hospital emergency department for a problem that would be referred back to the GP."

The benefits of this practice far out way any big conglomerate medical centres. This practice makes you feel important, valued and safe. Being able to consistently see the same GP builds up a trusty repore and history .It’s hard to think of one thing as there are many! Warm, family friendly atmosphere with great dedicated Doctors offering good service.
Caring and helpful nursing and office staff. Shorter waiting times for visits. I like, and find the online Manage My Health portal very useful. A great way to communicate. The response times from this portal are very good. In December 2020 I was very unwell. I had an appointment with Andy and he sent me for blood tests. In the evening he phoned me to say the results had come through and I needed to get to hospital as soon as possible. He advised that he would send the information through to the hospital so my wait would be speeded up. It was above and beyond what I expected, as the practice would have been closed. I felt valued and cared for. Andy was always at the end of the phone or email to support me until I was well.

"Both My husband and I have long-term health conditions, we value the service we get from our GP who has gotten to know us as people and takes into consideration all aspects of our lives, not just the medical conditions we have. We are busy parents who run our own business, volunteer and try and keep active Our GP works with us to help us manage our conditions as best as possible whilst recognizing the other aspects of our lives we value and how they impact on our overall health. For instance, when my husband can not possibly get into an in-person appointment because he is working on-site our GP is flexible enough to suggest a telephone consult which saves my husband time off the work site which is not possible when you are the boss. Our GP is happy to call, use video to assess the need for medications and then send the prescription to the pharmacy so I can go collect it for my husband who works long hours."

We moved to the Sydney Street Health Centre in October 2020 during a challenging time in healthcare in New Zealand and the benefits of the move to Sydney Street Health in our family were apparent from the start. Being able to see the same GP each time means we develop a relationship that works from a patients perspective, the GP knows you and has a history to refer back to in order to see the best way forward. Being able to request an appointment mostly within the same week is a benefit as the reason you want to see your GP is because of a particular ailment that is current and needs addressing within a few days, and we can do this at Sydney Street Health Centre.

In a challenging healthcare environment, I struggle to find the words to describe how much we value our GP's care. We consider ourselves very lucky to have great access to empathetic, knowledgeable doctors who take the time to get to know their patients and their families despite often being time poor. I had deranged liver function tests with a 5 month old baby due to gallstones. Our GP went above and beyond to monitor and keep me out of hospital while breastfeeding, leading up to GB removal surgery. This is the type of holistic care I see so many without currently.
Fast and effective communication, sensitivity and ongoing care around gynaecological issues. Knowing they will always be available in some capacity to help if/when is needed. Particularly valuable with young kids who always make us second guess ourselves with unexplained fevers, rashes, aches and illnesses. This accessibility helps instil confidence in new parents.

The benefits of this lovely small practice is that I get to see my own Doctor. Generally, wait time for an
appointment is within 7days. If the illness is serious a phone appointment can be arranged generally that same day or within 24hr. Because the staff know us too.
When my previous GP retired after 54yrs of service my files were passed onto a large corporate medical centre.
I was assigned a GP at the beginning. Not that l frequented often, but l never met my assigned GP once.
The personal level of treatment and knowing all the staff. It feels like a good old fashion family practice.
'LOVE' Manage My Health website. Being of the older generation, and not that tech savvy, it is easy to access and follow. It is a time saver both for me and the practice, when a lot of questions can be answered by email or skype. Access to blood results is excellent.
My GP really cares about the people in his practice. He will go the extra mile if needed. He always answers my email enquiries within hrs of receiving them. He has seen me at short notice (same day) twice. It is nice to know l have my own Dr, who knows my medical history.
